Gtech’s Slot Therapy for Rhode Island Lottery
A study shows that new slot machines are blowing older versions out of
the water when it comes to profits. A casino market test was specifically
conducted by Gtech Holdings Corporation to find out how the state of Rhode
Island could boost their state lottery revenues which is derived from a
percentage of what slot machines pull in. What the company found was much
more of a contrast between old and new than they were necessarily expecting,
the newest slot machines pulled in almost three time more than the older
machines.
The big attractions seem to be the overwhelming presence of high tech
graphics, lights, and sound, giving the games much more of a video game
quality. Gerald Aubin, the head of the Rhode Island Lottery, explains that
the public flocks to these new machines very much as they would to a new car
with luxury features. “Consumers are generally more interested in the latest
technology that a product can offer them.” In order to make more of an
impact, the Rhode Island Lottery Board has made the decision to add a
considerable greater amount of fresh from the manufactures slot machines.
In return Gtech has agreed to set up shop with in the state in order to
provide tailored games on a consistent basis. Gtech is also growing as they
pursue purchasing fifty percent of the European slot maker, Gauselmann
Group's Atronic companies for an approximant one hundred and twenty-five
million dollars. The gaming giant also just closed on their 150-million
dollar buy-out of the Canadian slot manufacturer, Spielo Manufacturing. |
