Monkey Slots - Supplier Dilemma May Delay Slots
Hold on, I don't mean to give you this shocking news too abruptly, but
... slot machines are still causing drama in Pennsylvania. If by any chance
you cannot taste the immense amount of sarcasm in that introduction than you
haven't been following the saga that is the slow process of bringing slot
machines to the state of Pennsylvania. The whole state is in the midst of
finding the most suitable way to make huge sums of money off of its
residents, while also being able to avoid the dreaded political taboo of
actually raising taxes.
The states latest dilemma revolves around how to organize the way in
which the slot machines will actually be distributed to the fourteen new
locations with slot machines licenses for in state suppliers who will in
turn receive their goods from out of state manufactures. Basically creating
a state sanctioned group of middle men to create an even bigger piece of the
revenue pie for the state. The biggest question remains to be whether or not
the state will divide the the state into regions of slot machine locations
and which suppliers will be allowed to operates within those designated
regions, or to let it be a capitalist free for all, even though it is still
a relatively controlled environment.
What has everyone losing sleep is that this decision was supposed to have
been made quite some time ago, and now the state's Gaming Control Board is
down to the wire and need to have the final answer by July 5th, and lets be
honest no ones going to get any work done the day before. The real stress
comes in with the fact that if the final supplier decision is not made on
schedule it could end up missing the boat and taking up to a year to get the
paperwork approved by the Independent Regulatory Review Commission. That
could mean a lot more articles about the anticipation of slot machines for
the state of Pennsylvania with an increasing tone of impatience. |
