Monkey Slots - Church Protests Slot Machines

Penn National Gaming has not been met by quite the glowing welcome by some then it has by others. The slot machine giant’s new parlor by the name of Hollywood Slots was not greeted by smiles this past Friday as members of a local church protested out side of the facility which houses roughly 475 slot machines. There were almost ten people from the King James Baptist Church who braved the cold weather for over an hour and a half in order to make their dislike of slot machines known as they preached the damning qualities of gambling outside of the relativity new slot machine hang-out.

Interestingly, the protesters’ preaching was not specifically directed toward the slot machine parlor itself, the sign holders showered the majority of their wrath on passing cars and pedestrians on their way to work by handing out pamphlets with depictions of hell and people burning in it. When ask what the purpose of this particular protest was, the church’s preacher, who refused to give his name and wore a jacket emblazed with bible scriptures, said it was meant to “spread the word of God.”

When reporters asked spokespeople in representation of Penn National Gaming what they thought of the negative publicity, said that they support the protesters right to express their opinions and are not worried about any sort of negative effect on their business.  "We recognize that there may be some folks that may be morally or religiously opposed to gaming, and they're entitled to their point of view," said manager of marketing and public relations for Hollywood Slots, Amy Kenney, "But above all else, we have received an overwhelming positive response to the opening of our slot machine gaming facility."
